DomCo helped modernize an existing under-desk fitness product portfolio by developing the custom electronics, embedded firmware, and BLE mobile app API needed to add Bluetooth connectivity and app-enabled behavior across multiple product tiers.

Adding connectivity across an existing product portfolio
The customer needed to upgrade a mostly mechanical product line into a connected product portfolio without treating each model as a separate engineering effort. The work required custom electronics, embedded control, Bluetooth communication, battery and charging support, and app integration behavior that could scale across multiple product tiers.
Engineering Approach
Custom PCB, firmware, and BLE API development
DomCo designed multiple custom PCB assemblies for the product family, including display and button electronics along with control boards for sensor integration, resistance control, Bluetooth, MCU functionality, battery management, and core embedded behavior. DomCo also developed the full-system firmware managing speed, resistance, user-interface communication, BLE API behavior, hardware control, battery monitoring, charging control, and device state.
Outcome
Post-beta handoff with a manufacturing-ready package
After beta, DomCo handed off a manufacturing and fabrication package to support the customer's next stage of development. The package included schematics, PCB layout files, Gerbers, BOM, firmware package, OTA update process, BLE API documentation, assembly notes, test procedures, test fixtures, and related engineering materials for the connected product portfolio.

DomCo designed a scalable smart automation ecosystem built for homes, hotels, new construction, and integrator-led deployments, spanning in-wall audio, touch-screen control panels, smart dimmer switches, lighting and scene control, climate/HVAC control, mobile apps, server software, and the mechanical, electrical, and firmware systems behind the connected product family.
